HAWAIIAN/ENGLISH BILINGUAL BOOK

This story revolves around th elegendary lifeguard, surfer, musician and Plynesian voyager Edward Ryon Makuahanai "Eddie" Aikau. The book was written at an "easy reader" level so it could be enjoyed by children and adults of all ages. Through this book, the Foundation?s mission is to perpetuate the legacy of EDDIE AIKAU, using the story of his life and accomplishments to inspire others to become productive members of their community, encouraging education and the advancement of the Hawaiian culture.

The book was authored by Jonathan A. Ibanez, an 8th grade student at St. Anthony’s Junior-Senior High School in Wailuku, Mau'i. Johnathan was one of the 2010 winners of the annual EDDIE AIKAU ESSAY CONTEST.

Mr. Henani Enos, a Big Island artist, was the illustrator of the book. Henani is a Hawaiian language immersion kumu in Kea'au and voyager with the Hokualaka'i currently docked at Hilo harbor.
